Who we are

The Ambitions Foundation is a registered charity in England and Wales (charity no. 1213982). We are the data controller for the personal information described here.

Registered address: 51C Paulet Road, London, SE5 9HP. Email: contact@theambitionsfoundation.org.uk

What we collect

  • Referrals: the young person’s name and age, the referrer’s contact details, programme of interest, reason for referral and any additional needs
  • Contact enquiries: your name, email address and message
  • Volunteers: details needed for safer recruitment, including references and DBS checks
  • Donations: your name, contact details and donation history. Card payments are handled by our payment provider and we do not store card details
  • Programme records: attendance, progress and, where needed, safeguarding records

How we use it

  • To respond to referrals and enquiries and to deliver our programmes
  • To keep children and young people safe
  • To recruit and support volunteers safely
  • To process donations and thank supporters
  • To meet our legal and regulatory duties as a charity

Our lawful bases

Under UK GDPR we rely on: legitimate interests to run our programmes and respond to enquiries; consent where we ask for it, for example parent or carer consent for under-16s; legal obligation for safeguarding and charity law; and vital interests where someone’s safety is at risk. Information about health or additional needs is handled as special category data, with extra care.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We only share it when we need to:

  • With children’s social care, the police or other statutory agencies where a young person may be at risk
  • With trusted service providers who help us run the charity, such as email, payment or database services, under contract
  • Where the law requires it

How long we keep it

We keep information only for as long as we need it. Safeguarding records are kept in line with statutory guidance. Other records are reviewed regularly and securely deleted when no longer needed.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct or delete it
  • Object to or restrict how we use it
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To make a request, email contact@theambitionsfoundation.org.uk. Young people can make requests about their own information too.

Making a complaint

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
